At last the CNC arrived!

Merry Christmas to everyone! We decided to invest part of the prize we won in a laser cutting CNC machine from MYDIYCNC (link). It took a lot off effort to get it through US and italian customs but, at last, as in every respectful fable, it arrived on Christmas Eve. We can't wait to build it and cut some new sensors.

PNI: on stage!

At the end we made it to the stage of the PNI final, so we can consider ourselves among the best four industrial startup idea for the 2014. Not bad at all, considering that we started this June. We're quite happy of the result, even if we did not win: we got very interesting contacts and our presentation was also broadcasted on YouTube (link).

PNI: first day

This is our stand at the PNI. I'm not satisfied from the space we were assigned: it's really too small. Fortunately we don't have a column in front of us as some other teams have. Let's hope to get it to the final: the competition level is quite high.

First sensor test successful

Finally, after a lot of work on the sensor shape and even a longer one with the patent offices, we can disclose one of the possible sensor shapes. Intelligent Structures sensors are now patented and they work very well at detecting incoming impact waves.

Honorable defeat

Valencia was not so sweet as we hoped. (linkIt was however a great experience as well as a good opportunity to receive feedback and suggestions. Beside, the idea of gathering power from the waves -the winner idea- is much greener than our's: good job Wavetube!

Much more than expected!!!

From the ninth to the second place it was really an unexpected recovery! And a really rewarding one too! (linkWe won three prizes: #StartCupER second place, Clean Launch Pad first place (link) and the access to the PNI as one of the three regional representatives.
Theoretically speaking we also won some money: let's hope for the best!

It was close, but we're in!

Ninth place it's a little worse than we expected, but we're still alive and kicking.
In a couple of weeks we'll see if all the work done is going to pay its due at #techgarage.

Techweek

It has been a tough week last one: #techweek (link) has stressed out our startup idea. Nevertheless we've been productive, so let's hope for the best! We need to be in the top 10 to move on to the next phase #techgarage #fingercrossed.

Interface prototype

Our sensors wouldn't be complete without a proper interface.
So here it is the first prototype! With USB and external power
automatic switchover for dealing with long sensor chains.

First sensor node produced

Here's the first Intelligent Structure sensor node.
Small a coin, light as a piece of paper.
And only 40mW of power consumption!

Clean Launch Pad

The Clean Launch Pad has been a wonderful experience! Thanks to Lucie, Sara and Ron: you have been a wonderful crew. Also thanks to Silvia, my wife, who assisted us during this boot camp.

Third place!!!

We scored third!!! We're starting to build up some hope for the next phase #techweek.
We'll have a full training week in September. (link)

Another competition?

We were asked to partecipate to another competition: Clean Launch Pad (link). It's about fighting against the #climatechange. Well, Intelligent Structures sensor could allow reducing plane weight and material usage, so we'll take this challeng too!

On stage!

I'd never, ever, have bet on it! We are on stage to illustrate our idea.
Judges are a little bit harsh but we are more convinced than ever!

We made it!

We made it!!! 16th out of 130! Not bad at all. We're curious to see what Cesena #techmeeting has to offer.

More participants than expected!

More than 130 participants decided to present their idea to the #barcamper Scouting Tour (link). However just 40 groups will participate to the next phase #techmeeting.
Will we be among them? #fingercrossed
